Broiler Production Officer

Job Summary

To support the effective day-to-day management of broiler production activities by ensuring optimal bird health, adherence to farm procedures, and achievement of production targets.

Job Details

🔹 Operational Support

• Execute daily broiler production activities in assigned pens/houses 
• Ensure strict adherence to established SOPs for bird management 
• Monitor feeding, watering, and general welfare of birds 

🔹 Bird Health Monitoring

• Observe birds for signs of illness, stress, or abnormal behaviour 
• Administer vaccines and medications as instructed 
• Promptly escalate any health concerns or mortality increases 

🔹 Feed & Water Management

• Ensure timely distribution of feed and monitor consumption 
• Minimize feed wastage and report discrepancies 
• Ensure continuous availability of clean water 

🔹 Environment & House Management

• Maintain appropriate temperature, ventilation, and lighting conditions 
• Ensure cleanliness of poultry houses and proper litter management 
• Support routine inspection and minor maintenance of equipment 

🔹 Record Keeping

• Maintain accurate daily records of: 
  • Mortality 
  • Feed intake 
  • Medication/vaccination 
• Submit reports to the Farm Supervisor as required 

🔹 Compliance & Biosecurity

• Adhere strictly to all biosecurity protocols and farm hygiene standards 
• Comply with health, safety, and environmental guidelines 

🔹 Team Collaboration

• Work closely with other farm staff to ensure smooth operations 
• Follow instructions from supervisors and contribute to team efficiency

Requirements

• B.Sc./HND in Animal Science, Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, or related field
• Minimum of 2–4 years experience in broiler production or poultry farm operations
• Practical knowledge of poultry management systems and biosecurity practices.
• Strong knowledge of broiler production techniques
• Attention to detail and data accuracy
• Problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Ability to work in a farm environment
• Team leadership and supervisory skills
• Good communication and reporting skills
